Product Description
Inline Compact Pressure Booster for Home and Irrigation Systems
The PresSystem achieves similar results to the use of an inverter to control a pump system but without the complications and expense of a specialised installation. The innovative use of a recessed pressure sensor eliminates losses associated with more basic pressure controllers.
The ability to operate with 2 pressure points instead of just the restart pressure means a pump can be run below the peak of it’s efficiency curve, and with a suitable sized pressure vessel will achieve efficiencies much nearer to that of an inverter than of a typical fixed speed system. Pump motor and bearing life are improved, reducing maintenance intervals and cost of ownership, and at much lower initial cost than any variable speed solution.
The Mac3 PresSystem is a single phase, fixed speed, variable pressure controller.
Variable pressure is achieved by allowing the user to set both the start and stop pressure of the pump. This adjustability also avoids running the pump at the end of it’s pressure curve therefore producing substantial efficiency gains and reduced run time.
Dry run protection is achieved by pressure monitoring. For the basic model, the use of a float switch within the water tank will also allow pre-emptive dry run protection to be implemented. In the PresSystem CosPhi model a float (or other level sensor) is not required - see below.
PresSystems are intended for use in clean water with no solids between pH 5 – 9.
Operating Modes
PresSystem is designed to operate in either Automatic or Pressure Switch mode.
In Automatic mode, PresSystem will determine automatic pressure settings for the pump by running for 40 seconds upon first start up.
In Pressure Switch mode, the start pressure, stop pressure and dry run pressure can be adjusted as desired to suit the needs of a particular installation.
PresSystem with CosPhi
The PresSystem with Cosphi motor protection measures the power factor of the pump motor and detects dry-running without the use of a flaot switch. This is very useful in boreholes and other locations where the installation of a float switch or other sensor to detect low water is not practicable.
Optional Extras
Float Switch
(not required with the CosPhi model)
Float switches allow electrical equipment to start and stop automatically when a prefixed level has been reached. Inside the float switch there is a microswitch that, depending on the level of the liquid, opens or closes the contact that powers the pump. We have many float switches available. The most universally used is the Float Switch Key, please contact us for advice if you are unsure which to use in your installation.
Pressure Vessel
A pressure vessel prolongs the life of your pump by providing a reserve of pressurised water to your system. It therefore limits the number of starts of and wear on the pump when it is used for quick short periods of time. Pressure Vessels are available in different sizes. If you are unsure which size your system requires please contact us.
